Main Starches of Yue Food


Rice is a huge part of of the Asian diet. Rice was known to be grown as early as 6,000 B.C. and started in the South-East Asian region. Every household eats rice in the Yue Culture.




There are lots of noodles in Yue dishes, including glass noodles, egg noodles, vermicelli, thick noodles and thin noodles. One of the most popular noodle dish is Soy Sauce Cao Mien.






Mantou is the bread starch for Yue Food. It is either steamed or deep fried. It goes really well with condensed milk.







Congee is a rice porridge dish in the Yue food culture. In other countries, rice porridge may be served with side dishes but in Yue culture, the congee is prepared with the dishes in it.
